MERRY CLIFFMAS! X X X
“Happy Cliffmas…now that really is flattering. Good luck with the track and get those radio guys on your side. Remember the Cliff generation is an endangered species!
…..Love….Cliff (from his very own Corner!)”
“The Cliffmas Song”
SOUNDS LIKE? Perfect pastiche. If we have to have ‘xmas songs’, and we do, oh yes, then they should all be like this. Sharp, yet loving, yet loving and while it’s more surprise than annoyance, the feeling is that Detox Cute & The Double Deckers have come with open hearts and more genuine emotion than a loveless sundeck in a wig (arise Sir Cliff) deserves. This is, in the spirit of the thing, truly imbued with the Christmas spirit.
IS IT ANY GOOD? Yes, it’s spot on. All sweet vox, bells, stolen chord structures and lyrical aptitude.
We were dancing at the Pop Trash Disco on Christmas Day
We had Shaky on the decks, on the mic was Noddy from Slade
The Pogues brought the choir, we were waiting for McCartney’s Wings
And Woody from Wizzard - got the children to sing
You and me and a drink or three,
But something is missing, what can it be?
Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
No Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
The D.J. at the ‘End of the Universe’ was playing our song
Elvis in the corner with Mariah they were getting it on
Noel and The Ronnies were laughing with Bowie and Bing
And Kirsty and Wham – got the children to sing
You and me and a drink or three,
But something is missing, what can it be?
Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
No Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
We don’t need another X-Factor, or repeats on the BBC
People dying on EastEnders, getting tinsel in your teeth
We’ve had enough of novelty singles, Mr Blobby you can go
There’s only one who can make it special,
And I think that we all know
I think that we all know
Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
No Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
No Christmas isn’t Christmas without Cliff
